Frostiness Increases in Delhi and Other States; Foggy Mornings Hit Air and Train Traffic

December 30 14:01 2014

fogNew Delhi, Tuesday, December 30 – The residents of Delhi and other states are under the attack of severe cold at the present. Thick fog cover is a common scenario in most of the Indian regions, affecting the normal life. The smooth survival can’t be imagined by the people who are spending chilly nights on the streets, having a few warm clothes and blankets to protect themselves against the cold.

On Monday, the national capital saw plenty of sunshine. But that did not decrease the level of iciness. Smog in the early hours delayed trains like Sikkim Mahananda, North East, Lucknow Swarn Shatabdi, Jannayak Express, Kota Express, Shaheed Express, Toofan Express, New Delhi-Bengaluru Rajdhani, Jammu Tavi Rajdhani, Lucknow-Bhopal Express, Gomti Express, Bhuvneshwar Rajdhani, Raj Rani Express and Brahmaputra Mail. Several passengers remained stranded at the airport in view of the fact that flights either took off late or got cancelled a day ago. Poor visibility on the runway was the key trouble for the commuters, who got their tickets done to land at desired destination and celebrate New Year with loved ones.

Extreme chilliness was felt by those who were inside or even outside. Office goers faced a bit trouble in commuting and chose metro over personal vehicles to steer clear of bone-chilling cold. As per weathermen, a tad respite might be observed by the Delhiites since maximum temperature is anticipated to be 20 degree Celsius. However, minimum temperature of 4 degree Celsius on Tuesday will keep on compelling populace to cover in layers. Visibility in the city might be reduced in the coming days as fog will continue to be seen in Delhi and nearby zones. The underprivileged people living without a roof over their head were seen making efforts to keep themselves warm by sitting aside bonfires. Problems are no less for stray animals. Delhi schools are reported to be shut for 10 days, effective January 1. People using cars and bikes made sure they drive safe to avoid accidents and collision on the roads. Weather of the metropolis is expected to remain the same at least for a couple of weeks.
